Job Description:
Science Systems and Applications, Inc. (SSAI) is seeking an associate software developer for support to the Atmospheric Science Data Center (ASDC) located at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA. The successful candidate will provide programming support to the ASDC Software Engineering Group including Python and/or JavaScript development to maintain and produce software in
Amazon AWS Cloud and/or Kubernetes/OpenShift environments.
The candidate will work with senior developers and the atmospheric science community to develop software that ingests and stores scientific data. The candidate will assist in preparing project plans, reports, and documentation for software development efforts, as well as design presentations.
Required Qualifications:
BS degree in Computer Science or closely related field
Minimum of 4-6 years of relevant experience
Be able to develop code in Python and/or Java
Git code management practices
Working knowledge of Linux/Unix
Agile Development
Familiarity with the software development lifecycle
Capable of working both independently and with small teams
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Must be a US citizen
Desired Qualifications:
Amazon AWS Cloud and/or Kubernetes/OpenShift
Django
SQL and relational database experience
Able to perform test driven development
Ability to research and implement emerging technologies
Experience with automated build systems such as Terraform, Bamboo
Experience with REST service development
Experience with Platform as a Service (PaaS) concepts
Experience with Ansible and NodeJS
