Science Systems and Applications, Inc. (SSAI) is seeking an Intern to perform Data Analysis in support of the Support for Atmospheres, Science and Data Assimilation (SAMDA) contract. The qualified individual will support the Suomi Ozone Mapping Profiler Suite (OMPS) project at NASA Goddard Spaceflight Center in Greenbelt, MD.  The OMPS sensors collect total column and vertical profile ozone data daily used operationally by NOAA and by NASA to continue their important mandate to monitor stratospheric ozone.  NASA also has the unique role in verifying and validating pre-launch calibration data produced in many formats and over many years. The candidate will catalog and ingest pre-launch data, verify the integrity of existing algorithms which convert the data into a uniform format (netCDF), and write new algorithms as needed. The goal is to produce a library for easy access to conveniently formatted data, and documentation of their analyses.

Required Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled in B.S. program in Atmospheric Science, Physical Science, or Engineer, etc.
  • Experience in the following:
    • Scientific programming language (e.g. Fortran, C, Python, etc.)
    • Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Will need access to his/her own computer, internet, email.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience in the following:
    • Display language (e.g. IDL, Matlab, etc.)
    • CM packages (e.g. SVN, GitLab, etc)
