Science Systems and Applications, Inc (SSAI) is seeking a Trainings Communications Associate to support our work under the Support for Atmospheres, Modeling and Data Assimilation contract at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC).

The successful candidate will be a skilled and detail-oriented communicator to directly support the Applied Remote Sensing Training (ARSET) program at GSFC. The ARSET program enables organizations engaged in water, disasters, land, and air quality management to apply NASA Earth Science Data. The project works directly with agencies and policy makers to develop online and in-person trainings that teach users how to access, visualize, and apply NASA Earth Science Data in their professional area.

Duties of the successful candidate will include:


Communications and Social Media

  • Conducting initial outreach for trainings (twitter posts, campaign links)
  • Developing and curating engaging content for social media platforms
  • Monitoring social media channels for industry trends
  • Responding to social media messages, inquiries, and comments
  • Reviewing analytics and creating reports on key metrics
  • Answering general inquiries and email from ARSET program participants

 

ARSET Website support

  • Assisting with website curation
  • Adding missing training content as needed
  • Periodically reviewing and updating training content on website (checking links, etc.)

 

In-training support

  • Providing webinar in session support as needed
  • Posting YouTube recordings after each session

 

This position will begin as a telecommuting position and may convert to a position located on-site at NASA’s GSFC.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in the Earth Sciences, or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated experience in the Earth Sciences or science communication
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint and Word
  • Familiarity with one or more media format for generation of outreach material (e.g., Web pages, brochures, posters)
  • Experience with one or more social media platforms
  • Eligibility to work in the United States and ability to meet NASA's background investigation requirements for IT and physical access to NASA facilities
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience in scientific/technical website curation
