Job Description:
Science Systems and Applications, Inc. (SSAI) is seeking a Capture Manager to be a member of SSAI's Senior Management Staff and an active member of the Business Development team. The Capture Manager reports directly to The Director of Business Development. The Capture Manager will perform business development functions, including strategic planning and market analyses, competitive analyses, identification of potential target opportunities, and development of capture plans for assigned opportunities. The Capture Manager will establish and nurture relationships with potential customers, as well as potential industry partners.
Required Qualifications:
  • This position requires a minimum of a Bachelors degree in a physical science, engineering, IT or related discipline plus 10 years of relevant experience in business development or technical services in the federal and/or commercial sectors. or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Qualified candidates must have the ability to develop marketing presentations and write responses to Government RFPs, RFQs, and RFIs. The candidate should have an in-depth knowledge of US Government contracting, including contract types and procurement processes.
  • Candidates must be team-oriented and demonstrate strong reasoning, as well as interpersonal and communications skills, both oral and written.
  • Additionally, qualified candidates will have a successful track record of identifying, marketing, and capturing large technical support services contracts with U.S. government agencies.
  • The candidate must have knowledge of a broad spectrum of technical disciplines, and understanding of the industry, its key players and potential partners; knowledge of the federal procurement process, and experience interacting with executive level management of various organizations; and excellent written and verbal communication skills, creativity and problem-solving ability.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience with pricing and financial aspects of Government proposals
  • Experience with technical solutioning for Government proposals in the geophysical sciences
  • Understanding of and experience with the Shipley proposal process

  • Leadership experience with small teams of diverse technical and business staff
  • Established contacts and experience working with officials at DoD, NASA, USGS, and/or NOAA
