Job Description:

Science Systems and Applications, Inc. (SSAI) is seeking a Senior RF Design Engineer to lead the design and development of an advanced space-qualified GPS receiver for the Guidance, Navigation and Control branch at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) in Greenbelt, MD.

The successful candidate will have extensive Hands-on experience in the design, development, and testing of RF circuits.

Required Qualifications:
  • BS in electrical engineering, mathematics or physics
  • 10 or more years of experience in the design and development of RF circuits for space applications including:
    • Experience in analog circuit design, circuit analysis and simulation, hardware design, and implementation 
    • Experience in RF receiver design and analysis 
    • Experience in Global Positioning System (GPS) RF front-end circuit design with a good understanding of GPS concepts 
    • Experience with SAW filters, frequency synthesizers, clock drivers, VCOs, amplifiers, digital step attenuators, RF mixers, analog to digital and digital to analog converters (ADC/DAC), low noise amplifiers (LNAs), cavity filters, and LVDS drivers for space applications 
    • Experience in writing and executing test procedures for RF board testing 
    • Experience in noise reduction and interference mitigation techniques 
    • Experience in testing and debugging RF hardware using spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, power meters, signal generators, and other test equipment 
    • Proficiency in developing RF circuit schematic and layout in PADS/Mentor Graphics or Altium 
    • Experience in spur analysis, system master clock frequency selection, and link budget analysis 
  • Self-driven individual who can work independently and in a team environment 
  • Availability and willingness to work in the lab at Goddard Space Flight Center multiple days a week

 

Desired Qualifications:
  • Transmitter design experience
  • Expertise in environmental testing for space qualification including TVAC, Vibe, EMI/EMC, and RF compatibility.
