Job Description:

SSAI has an opening for a Assistant Chief Operating Officer (ACOO) to help support the Chief Operating Officer oversee operations of the company. The candidate is responsible for maintaining and driving operational results within the company. The ACOO will help provide leadership and strategic vision to the organization and work with the Board of Directors and senior leadership team.

The ACOO will drive company results from both an operational and financial perspective working closely with the COO, CFO, CEO and other key executives. The COO will establish and carry out organizational or departmental procedures, goals, and policies. Consult with board members, executives, and staff about general operations. The incumbent will oversee all SSAI technical programs, as well the Contracts and Procurement Departments.

The ACOO will work with the COO to establish and nurture relationships with existing and potential customers, as well as industry partners. Will represent SSAI at industry events.

Required Qualifications:

This position requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a technical, engineering or science discipline, PhD preferred with 10 - 15 years of relevant experience in implementing and overseeing the daily operations of the organization; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Exhibit an executive presence and ability to maintain a calm demeanor in high stress environments.

Additionally, qualified candidates will have a must have knowledge of a broad spectrum of science, engineering, and IT disciplines, and understanding of the aerospace industry, its key players and potential partners; knowledge of the federal procurement process, and experience interacting with executive level management of various organizations; and excellent written and verbal communication skills, creativity and problem-solving ability. The candidate must also have the ability to balance team and individual responsibilities, exhibit objectivity and openness.
