Science Systems and Applications, Inc. (SSAI) is seeking a Space Instrument Scientist/Engineer with experience in space sensors and instrument calibration to support projects on the Hydrosphere, Biospheric and Geophysics (HBG) contract at NASA's GSFC.

This contract provides scientific, engineering and software support for the design, development and testing of remote sensors, sensor systems, space-based instruments, sensor calibration and on-orbit performance analysis to NASA.
Situated at NASA/GSFC in Greenbelt, MD, this position will provide the needed support for a passive microwave remote sensing instrument development, testing, calibration, validation and data analysis. The successful candidate will support instrument Flight Team on the NASA/NOAA Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) Program. Key skills needed include good understanding of the passive microwave measurements, data reduction, processing and analysis to generate performance assessments needed for instrument requirements verification. The candidate will be working closely with JPSS project scientist, the sensor vendor engineers, JPSS program management, as well as presenting sensor performance status at major reviews. JPSS program is currently the biggest US Earth Observing Satellite System in support of Earth climate research and numerous environmental, societal and economical applications. There are four planned spacecraft in the series. S-NPP and JPSS-1 are two missions currently in operation, JPSS-2 and JPSS-3 are under testing and getting ready for launch.
