Job Description:
Science Systems and Applications, Inc. (SSAI) has an opening for a Project Research Scientist in atmospheric science or related field to: (1) co-lead the science working groups, (2) work alongside the data manager to produce a data set that includes reference data produced through the Zooniverse, and (3) oversee ways the citizen science data can be used in research. This person will actively engage with the GLOBE and NASA Earth Science research community in the acquisition and analysis of data through a Community Science Project Leveraging Online and User Data through GLOBE and Zooniverse.
Candidate will work as part of a team of Earth Science Education Specialists working with the NASA Langley Research Center Science Directorate in Hampton, VA. This person will actively work to integrate Earth science education resources and connect them to NASA assets, with particular focus on engaging NASA Subject Matter Experts for career awareness. This position will work close NASA Data, the GLOBE Program, GLOBE Observer, and other Earth science education programs that are part of NASA Science Activation (https://science.nasa.gov/learners
Required Qualifications:
MS in Atmospheric Science or related field or
PhD with less than 3 years
of applicable work and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Data Science Research Experience
Ability to Coordinate the acquisition and analysis of data.
Ability to Establish data flags.
Presentation and Communications Skills to allow for collaboration and engagement with Globe and NASA Science Research communities
Working knowledge of Citizen Science.
