Job Description:
Science Systems and Applications, Inc. (SSAI) has an exciting opportunity for a science analyst to support the Atmospheric Science Data Center (ASDC) at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA. The successful candidate will provide science support for airborne and field campaigns and geographic information system (GIS) efforts.  The candidate will work with the ASDC team in creating outreach material through storymaps by utilizing geospatial tools, Jupyter notebooks, and data user guides. The candidate will assist with ingest and distribution activities, preparing reports and support a variety of atmospheric/earth science efforts related to airborne field campaign, as well as design presentations to demonstrate the realm of possibilities for atmospheric data with applicability to ASDC data products.
Required Qualifications:
  • BS degree in Earth Science or closely related field and/or research experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
  • Be able to develop code in at least one of the following languages: Python, C++, R, etc.
  • Git code management practices
  • Working knowledge of Linux
  • Working knowledge with the geospatial application (ArcGIS, QGIS, etc.), software development lifecycle
  • Experience with analysis of atmospheric science data
  • Capable of working both independently and with small teams
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  •  Must be a US citizen
Desired Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with NASA ICARTT, netCDF, and related toolkits
  • Ability to research and implement emerging technologies
